Plantation Shutters, Adelaide

Plantation shutters are the only window covering that adds to what a house is worth. They’re a fixture, not a furnishing — fitted to the window, built to last decades, and they stay with the house when it sells. They’re also the most expensive thing on this website, so it’s worth understanding what you’re paying for.

PVC Shutter are waterproof, won’t warp, wipes clean, and handles a bathroom or a kitchen without complaint.

Blade size changes the whole look

Wider blades mean fewer of them, a cleaner look and more view when open — they suit larger modern windows. Narrower blades suit period homes and small windows where a wide blade would look heavy. This is the decision people regret most often, so I bring samples and we hold them up at the actual window.

Why shutters, over a blind

Light control without losing the window — tilt the blades instead of choosing open or shut

Privacy and light at the same time, which no blind can do

They insulate: a closed shutter is a second layer against the glass, summer and winter

No cords, no chains, nothing hanging for a child to reach

They don’t date, fade or sag the way a fabric does

Lead times — read this before you order

Common questions

Can I get them on bifold or sliding doors?

Yes — bi-fold and sliding shutter tracks are made for exactly that, and they look far better than a vertical blind.

How do you clean them?

PVC: a damp cloth. Timber: a dust or a vacuum brush. That’s the whole job.

Will they fit an odd-shaped window?

Arches, angles and raked windows are all doable. Bring me a photo and I’ll tell you before I come out.
